OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. – An Oakland County man won more than $286,000 while playing a Michigan Lottery game for the first time.
The 70-year-old man bought a Fantasy 5 ticket online and matched the numbers from the March 26 drawing: 05-19-20-32-35.
He said it was his first time playing Fantasy 5, and he came away with the $286,938 jackpot.
“I play the lottery a few times a year, and this was actually my first time ever playing Fantasy 5,” he said. “The day after the drawing, I saw an email that I’d won a prize, but I assumed it was some sort of scam email. I got on MichiganLottery.com and looked at the drawing results. When I saw the jackpot was won online, I knew it must be real.”
The man visited Michigan Lottery headquarters to claim his winnings. He chose to remain anonymous.
He said he plans to use the money to remodel his home.
