Child killed in 3-car crash allegedly caused by intoxicated mother in Detroit

Officials say child was not restrained properly before crash

DETROIT – A 4-year-old boy was killed in a three-car crash allegedly caused by his intoxicated mother in Detroit.

The crash occurred on Monday (May 6) at 1:10 p.m. on North I-75 and Piquette Avenue.

Officials say the child’s 30-year-old mother was the at-fault driver, and the child was not restrained properly before the crash.

“This crash is under investigation by the MSP Crash Reconstruction Unit and the Metro South Post,” said F/Lt Mike Shaw. “There are several more things to finish, and an investigator’s report will be submitted to the prosecutor when completed.”
