Bridge expected to open in fall 2025

DETROIT – The new Gordie Howe International Bridge is nearing completion on connecting the U.S. and Canadian bridge decks.

The Gordie Howe International Bridge project posted photos showing the gap closing between the two bridge decks stretching across the Detroit River.

The bridge is not expected to open for traffic until 2025.

Construction on the bridge officially began in 2018. Over 2022 and 2023, workers made progress on bridge and road deck construction, stay cable installation, and port of entry facilities.
