Cinamon Charmaine Rigmaiden was charged Friday, June 7, with felony murder, two counts of assault with intent to murder, three counts of first-degree arson and one count of third-degree arson.

The charges stem from the arson of a home on Seminole Street, just south of I-94, Tuesday, June 4. Authorities said Rigmaiden poured an accelerant on the front porch, lit it on fire, walked back to her car and texted the boyfriend that his house was on fire. She then reportedly went to a McDonald’s restaurant.

The house fire killed 53-year-old Tina Dorrough and seriously injured a 57-year-old man and a 65-year-old woman. Rigmaiden reportedly had recently broken up with Dorrough’s son, who was not home at the time.

Medical personnel pronounced Dorrough dead at the scene.

Teana Livingston, an attorney with the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office, said Rigmaiden lit the fire knowing Dorrough’s mother was partially paralyzed and had mobility issues. The defense argued she wanted to damage property, not harm anyone.

The blaze was extinguished by fire crews from Detroit and Hamtramck.

Rigmaiden was arrested by the Livonia Police Department the day after the fire and turned over to the Detroit Police Department. She was remanded back to jail without bond.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Detroit Police Department at 313-596-2260 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
