Logan Duvall Craib, 35 or 36, of Southgate, is named in a criminal complaint that was unsealed June 3, 2024.

FBI learns of child porn case

FBI agents first learned of Craib’s child porn tendencies in May 2024, from someone in Alaska, the criminal complaint says.

The person from Alaska had chatted with Craib on an app that allows users to exchange messages, pictures, and videos while using end-to-end encryption.

Craib told the other man that he was sexually active with a 14-year-old girl. While the two men were talking about sexual interest in children, Craib sent a video of a man raping a girl between the ages of 12 and 15, officials said.

Craib claimed he was the man in the video, and said the girl was 14 years old. He sent family photos of the girl and claimed she was the one in the video, the complaint says.

Another video that had been saved to the Alaska resident’s phone showed a girl between the ages of 8 and 12 performing a sex act on an adult man, officials said.

Both videos meet the federal definition of child pornography.

Search at Southgate home

Officials traced the account on that application to Craib’s home in Southgate, they said.

Multiple electronic devices were seized. Craib told FBI agents that there was child pornography on his Android cellphone because he accidentally downloaded it and couldn’t figure out how to delete it, according to the complaint.

Craib admitted to using the same app as the man from Alaska.

Pictures and videos found on Craib’s cellphone met the federal definition of child pornography, officials said.

FBI agents also found evidence that Craib had sent the two videos provided to authorities by the man from Alaska.

Charges

The criminal complaint concludes there’s probable cause that Craib distributed and possessed child pornography.
