Oxford Township man killed, 12-year-old passenger injured in motorcycle crash

Lapeer woman also injured in crash

BRANDON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A 60-year-old Oxford Township man was killed and his 12-year-old grandson was injured when the motorcycle they were on collided with another vehicle.

The crash happened after 1 p.m. on Friday, June 14, 2024, near the intersection of Baldwin and Hummer Lake roads in Brandon Township.

Police said David James Caulder, 60, and his 12-year-old grandson were riding a 2021 Harley Davidson three-wheeled motorcycle southbound on Baldwin Road when they collided with a 2019 Buick Envision driven by a 68-year-old Lapeer woman.

The Lapeer woman was northbound and attempting to complete a left turn onto westbound Hummer Lake Road.

Caulder was not wearing a helmet but the 12-year-old boy was. Caulder was pronounced dead at the scene. The 12-year-old boy was transported to a hospital by Oxford Township Fire Department and is in stable condition.

The Lapeer woman was also hospitalized and is in stable condition.

Police said the crash is being investigated by the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Unit
