2 people face ‘long road to recovery’

LATHRUP VILLAGE, Mich. – Police offered an update on the injuries after six people were hurt during a house party in Lathrup Village.

The shooting happened around 12:20 a.m. Saturday, June 15, 2024, in the 17000 block of Margate Avenue.

Officials said someone showed up at the party and started firing gunshots.

Six people were shot. Four of them suffered non-life-threatening injuries, but two others were struck multiple times. Those two were taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

Everyone who was shot is in their late teens or early 20s, police said.

In an update provided Sunday, officials said the two people who were badly injured remain in critical condition, but they’re expected to survive. Police said they face “a long road to recovery.”

The update also states that this was not believed to have been a random shooting. Police think it was a targeted attack, so there is no further danger to the public.
