8th victim injured in Rochester Hills mass shooting released from hospital

30-year-old is home resting after spending over 2 weeks in the hospital

ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. – Officials say the eighth of nine victims injured in the June 15 random shooting at the Brooklands Plaza Splash Pad in Rochester Hills was released from the hospital.

The 30-year-old Rochester Hills resident is home resting comfortably after spending more than two weeks in the hospital.

Officials say a 39-year-old Rochester Hills mother, who was seriously injured as she was shot multiple while trying to protect her children, remains hospitalized.

Officials say her 8-year-old son was released from the hospital on Friday (June 28).

The shooter was identified as Michael William Nash, 42, of Shelby Township. He took his own life after Oakland County Sheriff’s deputies surrounded the mobile home he shared with his mother.

Officials say the identities of the victims are not being identified.
