STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. – Michigan is home to 11,000 inland lakes, and every year, 80,000 pieces of trash are picked up during lake and river cleanups in southeast Michigan.
This year, SEA LIFE Michigan’s Global Beach Clean event is happening Sept. 18, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Joseph Delia Park in Sterling Heights.

SEA LIFE Aquarium is partnering with the Clinton River Watershed Council, The Cleanup Club, and the Detroit River Coalition for the cleanup and you’re invited!
Those who participate will be part of a global effort going on around the world to protect wildlife.
Last year, SEA LIFE was able to rally 55 locations including SEA LIFE Aquarium and more than 1,640 people who collected 6,177 pounds of trash for the international event.
If you’re in, comfortable shoes and weather-appropriate attire is recommended. Bags, gloves and trash grabbers will be provided.
If you can’t make it, you can still help the environment by walking around a park, lake, pond, or river cleaning up any trash you see.
