3-year-old shot in stomach in Detroit’s west side

The boy is in critical condition early Wednesday morning

DETROIT – A 3-year-old boy was shot in the stomach early Wednesday morning in Detroit’s west side.

It happened on West Grand Street in the area of Livernois and Davison at around 12:45 a.m. on Oct. 30.

According to Assistant Chief Charles Fitzgerald, the child was shot inside his home. He said the stories told by the mother and father are conflicting and inconsistent.

The mother told police she went to the laundromat and was unloading the car when she heard a pop. She then went to check on the child.

However, no one in the area heard any shots.

Inside the home was a 15-year-old who was left in charge, a 2-month-old, a 2-year-old and the 3-year-old who was shot.

Both parents have been detained, and CPS has been called.

Police said the child appeared to be shot once in the stomach. Right now, the child is in the hospital in critical condition.
