Near record temperatures in Metro Detroit for 2024 General Election

We will get a break from the rain for the majority of the day on Election Day, but the clouds will be sticking around the entire day. Rain showers will move back into the region by the time we get to the evening hours on Tuesday, as the polls are closing, and with a strong southerly flow, we are looking at record temperature as possible by the time we get to Tuesday afternoon.

We’re forecasting a high of 76° on Tuesday afternoon, which would break the record of 74° set back in 2022. With the unseasonably warm conditions, the wind will be gusty the next few days as well.

For the past four presidential elections, temperatures have been all over the board, ranging from the high 50s to the low 70s.

The 2024 General Election will not be the first election with high temperatures. The last time temperatures were in the 70s on Election Day was in the 2008 General Election.

On Tuesday, we’re aiming for record territory as temperatures range in the mid-70s, which is 20 degrees above average around this time in November.
