Diverging diamond style interchange opens today in Metro Detroit

Northbound and southbound Telegraph Road (US-24) at 8 Mile Road (M-102) is back open Monday morning, but it will look a littler different than it used to.

Starting on Nov. 25 at 6 a.m., Telegraph Road now shifts left first and then shifts right under the 8 Mile Road bridge. This new design is to avoid left turns from Telegraph Rd. without encountering oncoming traffic.

Nearly 2.6M Michiganders predicted to travel 50+ miles for Thanksgiving

More Michiganders are expected to travel for Thanksgiving, according to travel experts.

On Sunday morning, travelers navigated the calm before the chaos at Detroit Metro Airport.

“Yeah, I figured it would be pretty busy so I wanted to get here good and early,” Connie Silver said.

The grandmother is flying to California to spend time with her son’s family. Other travelers appeared to be getting a jumpstart on the holiday travel like Lynn Whiteside who’s traveling to Texas to be with her husband’s family.

What we know: Mobile home fire in Canton Township kills 2 children, injures 3 others

Two children were killed, and three others were injured in a fire Sunday in Canton Township.

The fire happened around 5:40 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24, 2024, near Haggerty Road at the Glen Ridge Mobile Home Community.

Canton Fire Chief Christopher Stoecklein said three children were taken to the hospital in critical condition. Two have since died from their injuries. Officials said they were siblings.
