Canton fire Chief Christopher Stoecklein said three children were taken to the hospital in critical condition. Two have since died from their injuries. Officials said they were siblings.

The third child remains in critical condition, but is stable. Two parents were also hurt and taken to the hospital, but they are stable.

Stoecklein described the children as “younger in age.”

When firefighters arrived at the scene, Stoecklein said the parents and two children were already outside, but firefighters had to rescue a child from inside.

The police department has closed the entrance to the Glen Ridge Mobile Home Park at this time.

Stoecklein said he couldn’t recall any other deadly fires in his 29 years with the department.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.
