Detroit teen charged after accidentally shooting 12-year-old cousin

12-year-old expected to be okay

DETROIT – A Detroit teen was charged Tuesday for allegedly accidentally shooting his 12-year-old cousin Monday night.

The shooting happened on Nov. 25 in the 18800 block of Saint Aubin Street just before 10 p.m.

According to authorities, a 16-year-old was allegedly playing with a gun when it accidentally discharged, striking his cousin in the arm.

The 12-year-old was taken to a local hospital for his injury, and Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy said the 12-year-old is expected to be okay.

The 16-year-old was arrested and taken to the Wayne County Juvenile Detention Facility. He was charged with Careless Discharge of Firearm Causing Injury.
