Detroit Lions' real opponent this Thanksgiving game: The moon?

Okay, hear us out

The Detroit Lions haven’t won on Thanksgiving since 2016. The moon was a waning crescent that day.

You’re probably wondering why the phase of the moon is even on the table of discussion. Well last year, when the Lions fumbled away the Thanksgiving game against the Green Bay Packers, the moon was a waxing gibbous. It quickly made the rounds online.

The Lions were at 0-13 on Thanksgiving Day when the moon was a waxing gibbous.

Good news—the moon will not be a waxing gibbous on Nov. 28, it will actually be a waning crescent. The Lions are 3-3 overall on Thanksgiving when the moon was a waning crescent as it was back in 2016.
