Westland Goodfellows partner with police for toy drive in 8th annual ‘Stuff A Squad Car’ event

WESTLAND, Mich. – Black Friday isn’t just about shopping; for some, it’s about giving, as the Westland Police Department put on its annual “Stuff A Squad Car” event, collecting toys for kids in need.

It’s always fun to see our local police departments get into the holiday spirit, and Nov. 29 was no exception.

For the eighth year in a row, Westland police held its event while braving the cold outside Meijer.

Community members donated toys, stuffing one of their police cruisers to the brim.

The drive is done in partnership with Westland Goodfellows to ensure that no local child is forgotten this Christmas.

“Every year we almost have a competition with ourselves to raise as many cart fulls of toys as possible,” said Westland police Deputy Chief Robert Wilkie. “We got a great start going so far we’re hoping that the end result is going to be a whole bunch of gifts for local kids.”
