Police investigating suspicious death of Macomb County woman found with apparent gunshot wound

MACOMB COUNTY, Mich. – Michigan State Police are investigating a suspicious death after a Macomb County woman was found with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound Wednesday night.

Just before 11 p.m. on Dec. 4, 2024, police responded to the 75000 block of Mackey Road in Richmond Township and found an 18-year-old with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

While interviewing the 17-year-old who called 911, police learned he was the woman’s boyfriend. Police said there were inconsistencies in what happened before the shooting.

Detectives are gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses. The investigation is ongoing.
