3 injured in Oxford shooting on Christmas Eve, authorities say

Suspect in custody

OXFORD, Mich. – Three people are hospitalized following a shooting in Oakland County on Christmas Eve, officials said.

At about 6:30 p.m., the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a major incident that happened on Ray Road between Lapeer and N. Oxford roads, near Oxford High School.

When deputies arrived, they discovered that three people had been shot.

All three people were taken to the hospital to be treated for their injuries.

The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office says the suspect was taken into custody, and a gun was recovered.

“We are asking that people stay out of the area while the major incident is being processed,” the sheriff’s office said. “The area is an active crime scene. It is believed there is no further danger to the public.”

If you saw a heavy police presence at the nearby Meijer store, authorities say the shooting did not happen there, and it was just the staging area for first responders.

No other information has been released at this time.
