Tragedy strikes twice for Livonia family after woman dies in crash, her husband injured in ice fishing accident

OAKLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Tragedy struck twice for a family in Livonia.

A 66-year-old Livonia woman died after a crash on Friday, just one day after her husband fell through the ice while fishing on Lake George.

The crash the woman was involved in happened on Dec. 27, 2024, near Rochester Road and Beach Drive. The Oakland County Sheriff said a 19-year-old driver crossed the center line and crashed into the Jeep the woman was riding in the backseat of.

Sources told Local 4 she was on the way to pick up her husband’s car from his ice fishing accident.

Two other people in the Jeep were also hurt.

The sheriff’s office said the husband is still in the hospital.
