Recall effort against Warren mayor moves forward

The Macomb County Election Commission approved language for a petition to recall Warren Mayor Lori Stone.

This means a signature collection can move forward.

The recall petition said Stone failed to sign a land bank agreement approved by the city council in August 2024 and then failed to comply when the council gave her three days to sign the agreement in November.

According to Michigan.gov, in order to trigger a recall, the number of signatures needed is 25% of the votes cast.

According to the City of Warren, more than 22,000 votes were cast in that election when Stone won. That could mean a little more than 5,500 are needed to trigger the recall.
