EASTPOINTE, Mich. – A man was arrested after police say he disguised himself before shooting at Eastpointe police during a shooting investigation.
The shooting occurred on Friday, Jan. 3, 2025, at 3:30 p.m. in the 15000 block of 9 Mile Road. Police were in the area investigating a report of a shooting.
When they got to the scene, Eastpointe police located the victim, who had been shot in the chest. Officials said the victim was rushed to a Metro Detroit hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.
Police said that the victim was currently in a relationship with the suspect’s ex-girlfriend, and the suspect was very unhappy about it. The suspect approached the victim wearing a wig, tight pink pants, a pink shirt, and a black jacket.
Police said the suspect tried to disguise himself as a woman. The suspect spoke with the victim for a short period of time.
The suspect then produced a black handgun and shot the victim once in the chest before leaving the scene and going out of the view of security cameras, according to police.
Eastpointe Detective Bureau and Special Investigation Unit identified the suspect and his location.
A search warrant was obtained for the suspect’s residence in the 17000 block of Albian Street in Detroit.
With assistance from the Detective Bureau, the Eastpointe Special Response Team executed the search warrant.
While Officers were trying to gain entry to the house, the suspect fired one round at them through the front door.
Officials said the bullet missed all officers who were located on the front porch.
Officers did not return the fire because they did not have a clear view of the suspect. Officers took up a defensive position and were able to negotiate with the suspect to surrender.
The suspect and his girlfriend were taken into custody for further investigation.
