A 63-year-old woman from Westland said she still can’t believe she won a $1 million Powerball prize.
Catherine Martin matched the five white balls in the Sept. 4, 2024, Powerball drawing to win a $1 million prize. She said she plays the same numbers every week: 07-10-21-33-59.

“The day after the drawing, I got a call from my husband while I was at work telling me that he checked my Powerball ticket, and I’d won $1 million! I was stunned and had a hard time believing him. Honestly, I still don’t believe it,” Martin said. “We have kept our win a secret until we finally surprised our family on Christmas with the big news.”
Martin said she plans to invest, save for retirement and contribute to her grandchildren’s college funds.
The $1 million winning Powerball ticket was purchased from MD Westland LLC in Westland.
