WAYNE COUNTY, Mich. – A 19-year-old from Detroit accused of stabbing his family members at a Dearborn hotel was charged and arraigned Monday.

Hamzeh Mohammad Salama allegedly stabbed a 51-year-old man, a 42-year-old woman and an 11-year-old girl with a knife at a hotel in the 200 block of Town Center Drive on Jan. 12, 2025, at around 11 a.m. Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy said the victims were Salama’s family members.

When police responded to the hotel after receiving a report of the stabbing, they found the three family members in the lobby suffering multiple stab wounds. They were taken to a local hospital for their injuries.

Salama was charged with three counts of Assault with Intent to do Great Bodily Harm, three counts of Felonious Assault and one count of Domestic Violence.

He was arraigned on Jan. 13, 2025, and given a $300,000 cash or surety bond. A probable cause conference is scheduled for Jan. 22, 2025.

“This case is yet another example of intra family violence that permeates American society today,” said Worthy. “It is almost always hard to fathom and accept, but it unfortunately, it happens and happens often. We must be vigilant, pay attention, and use every tool in our toolbox to heighten this issue and our response to it.”
