3 men await extradition after arrest for murder of Oakland County businessman

OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. – Three men were charged in the killing of an Oakland County business owner.

Sam Simko, 66, was found shot to death Monday evening at his marijuana grow business in Pontiac.

“They basically executed the owner,” Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard said during a press conference Wednesday. “They shot him in the head, then zip-tied him, and then put a bag over his head.”

Bouchard said three suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder.

William Creasy, Scott Brown and Deonte Prophett are charged with felony murder among other offenses.

Bouchard said the three men from Ohio were after drugs, stealing 50lbs of marijuana after killing Simko.

“At least one of the suspects involved in this had met the owners at Hash Bash in Ann Arbor and had talked about some kind of interaction (or) some kind of business dealing, and so that’s where they originally met,” Bouchard said.

Bouchard said the one suspect was let into the building and said the other two busted in as he was leaving.

Boucard’s team partnered with the ATF in tracking down the suspects and making the arrest in Cincinnati.

The suspects are awaiting extradition to Michigan.

Bouchard said Simko’s family is asking for privacy at this time.
