DETROIT – The Detroit Zoo and Belle Isle Nature Center will reopen on Thursday following a temporary weather closure.

The Detroit Zoo and Belle Isle Nature Center will reopen for regular daytime hours on Thursday (Jan. 23).

The reopening was announced Wednesday after closely monitoring weather forecasts and ensuring safe conditions.

the Detroit Zoological Society team is excited to welcome guests back to the Detroit Zoo in Royal Oak and the Belle Isle Nature Center in Detroit.

The facilities had been closed on Jan. 21 and Jan. 22 due to extreme cold weather impacting the region.

Guests who pre-purchased tickets for Jan. 21 or 22 will have their tickets honored for daytime zoo admissions on any future visit.

However, refunds will not be issued if guests decide not to visit later.
