The James Beard Foundation announced Wednesday its list of restaurants and chefs it is considering for the 2025 awards, and several from Michigan made the list.
Here’s a list of the semifinalists from Michigan:

Outstanding Wine and Other Beverages

Best Chef: Great Lakes (IL, IN, MI, OH)
- Javier Bardauil, Barda, Detroit
- Jennifer Blakeslee and Eric Patterson, The Cooks' House, Traverse City
- Missy Corey, Pennyroyal Cafe and Provisions, Saugatuck
- Ji Hye Kim, Miss Kim, Ann Arbor
- John Yelinek, Ladder 4 Wine Bar, Detroit

Nominees will be announced on Wednesday, April 2, and the winners will be announced during the James Beard Restaurant and Chef Awards ceremony in Chicago on Monday, June 16.
This year marks the 35th anniversary of the awards, and to celebrate, three new categories were added. They include the Best New Bar, Outstanding Professional in Beverage Service, and Outstanding Professional in Cocktail Service categories.
