Suspect, 23, wanted for fatally shooting woman in Detroit, police say

DETROIT – A 23-year-old man is wanted in connection to a shooting that left one woman dead and another injured in Detroit in June 2024, police said.

The shooting happened at 1:51 p.m. on Monday, June 24, 2024, near Mt. Elliot and E. Outer Drive.

Police say the women were traveling westbound on E. Outer Drive from Van Dyke when Douglas Anthony Kendricks Jr. pulled up next to their vehicle in a black pickup truck and fired multiple shots at them.

One of the women, a 24-year-old, was killed, and the other, a 31-year-old, was taken to a local hospital to be treated for her injuries. She has since been released, according to police.
