US Coast Guard rescues 2 from ice floe in Michigan

The U.S. Coast Guard Station Saginaw River personnel rescued two people from an ice flow.

The rescue occurred on Wednesday (Jan. 22) at 12:37 p.m. in Saginaw Bay.

Officials say the two people were on the ice floe approximately one mile off of Almeda Beach.

Coast Guard Station Saginaw River’s ice rescue team reached both people and returned them safely to shore.

A helicopter crew from Air Station Detroit conducted an overflight of the area and confirmed no other persons were stranded.

Officials say no injuries were reported.
