LANSING, Mich. – Animal control officers removed 21 cats from a home in Ingham County on Friday, and 15 of them were dead, officials said.

Ingham County Animal Control and Shelter obtained a search warrant for a home on Denver Avenue in Lansing after they received a complaint about cats living in unsanitary conditions.

When animal control officers searched the home, they discovered 15 dead cats.

In addition, six other cats were rescued, and are undergoing medical evaluations to determine what kind of treatment is necessary.

Animal control officers said they are submitting a report to request criminal charges from the prosecutor’s office.

They are also asking anyone who sees or suspects animal cruelty to report it by emailing reportanimalcruelty@ingham.org, calling 517-676-8310, or submitting a complaint online.
