WARREN, Mich. – A man was severely burned in a Warren apartment fire.
The Warren Fire Department responded to reports of an apartment fire at 7:26 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2025, in the 15000 block of Republic Avenue.
According to a press release from the department, firefighters saw light smoke from a four-unit apartment complex and found an active fire in a second-floor apartment.
Crews entered the second-story apartment and found heavy smoke and flames in the kitchen area. Firefighters found and rescued a 40-year-old man.
The flames were knocked down by 7:38 p.m. and the fire was fully extinguished by 8 p.m.
The man was severely burned to a significant portion of his body and transferred to an area hospital. Officials have not released information about his condition.
The fire caused smoke and water damage to three other units in the building. No other injuries were reported.
Investigators are still working to determine the origin and cause of the fire.
