Mackinac Bridge partially closed due to high winds

MACKINAW CITY, Mich. – The Mackinac Bridge is partially closed Monday morning due to high winds in the Straits area.

The Mackinac Bridge Authority is prohibiting all vehicles from entering the bridge on Jan. 27, 2025, except passenger cars, passenger vans and empty pickup trucks. Tonneau covers, bed caps or similar items are not permitted.

Winds are blowing across the surface of the Mighty Mac at least 50 miles per hour. The Straits area currently has winds of 50 to 64 miles per hour.

Motorists are asked to reduce their speed to 20 miles per hour while approaching the bridge and be prepared to stop. Bridge personnel are at both ends of the bridge to instruct drivers when and how to cross the bridge.
