According to then-Warren Police Commissioner Bill Dwyer, the shooting was a pre-planned robbery attempt. The Roseville man was reportedly known to sell marijuana. He was shot in the neck, hand and arm by, police believe, two shooters.

The four teens, two 14-year-olds and two 15-year-olds, were arrested and charged as adults with assault with intent to murder, armed robbery and conspiracy to commit armed robbery. Three of the teens were additionally charged with weapons felony firearm—a two-year mandatory felony.

All four teens pleaded no contest to their charges as part of a plea deal. They are scheduled to be sentenced on March 26, 2025.
