Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer announced support for projects that will create more than 700 jobs in Metro Detroit in the healthcare and mobility industries.

“Today’s investments in Michigan health care and manufacturing will create more than 700 good-paying jobs and continue moving our economy forward,” Whitmer said in a release. “We are working across the aisle in Lansing and with our partners in communities across the state to keep growing some of our most critical industries. Together, we will create more jobs for workers, lower costs for businesses so they can expand in Michigan, and reinvest in our cities and towns to build them up and make them even better places to live, work, and invest. Let’s keep getting it done.”

Here’s more on the projects bringing the new jobs to Michigan, and where they will be located:

579 new jobs in Livonia

Pulse Primary Care, which provides medical services to patients throughout the U.S. will establish its headquarters in Livonia with the support of a $3.45 million performance-based Michigan Business Development Program grant, according to the release.

The facility will also serve as a training center for the company’s care managers to continuously improve the company’s services and further improve patient care.

This will bring 579 new jobs and create a capital investment of $10.5 million. The pay for these jobs ranges from $24 up to $55 an hour, plus benefits.

“As CEO of Pulse Primary Care, PLLC., I am proud to announce our innovative approach to primary care services. By harnessing advanced technology, we are revolutionizing patient care by monitoring health in between visits,” said Dr. Belal Abdallah, CEO of Pulse Primary Care. “Our vision to expand nationwide starts with the establishment of our headquarters in Michigan, a strategic decision that reflects our commitment to excellence and growth. Over the next five years, we look forward to welcoming over 500 Michigan based skilled healthcare professionals to join our dedicated team. Together, we will shape the future of healthcare and make a lasting impact on communities across the country. Pulse Primary Care: Empowering Health, Empowering Lives.”

144 new jobs in Detroit

Piston Automotive, a subsidiary of the Piston Group LLC. automotive supplier, will create hydrogen fuel cells at a facility in Detroit with the support of a $1.5 million performance-based Michigan Business Development Program grant.

This project helps bolster Southeast Michigan’s position as a leader in the automotive industry and supply chain. It will create up to 144 new jobs and invest up to $55 million in Detroit.

“The DEGC is proud to support this project. We’ve worked alongside Piston Group for years, and this investment shows why Detroit is a prime location for EV manufacturing,” said Kevin Johnson, President and CEO of the Detroit Economic Growth Corporation. “This expansion isn’t just about the capital investment and great-paying jobs – it’s about strengthening Detroit’s role as a hub for mobility innovation and creating real career opportunities for our residents.”

The jobs created by this project will offer pay above the regional median wage, and benefits include paid holidays, a 401K match and tuition reimbursement for full-time that are earning a high school diploma, skills certificate, associate degree, and bachelor’s degree.

New jobs also expected in Crawford County

In addition to these two Metro Detroit projects, Whitmer also announced the support of a project in Crawford County’s Grayling Township.

The Crawford County Road Commission received the support of a $2.8 million Build Ready Site Program grant to continue work on the Industrial Drive roadway project.

The roadway will allow Saab Inc. and Stoops Freightliner-Western Star to put new facilities in the area, creating 110 new jobs in the future.

“This road improvement will allow Saab Inc. the ability to move forward with their manufacturing facility. This results in the creation of 70 new full-time jobs. The Saab Inc. project is a substantial investment in themselves and the City of Grayling and Crawford County. The Site Readiness Grant, combined with MDOT’s Economic Development Category A Grant, will upgrade Industrial Drive to an all-season route which is essential to this project’s success,” said Donald Babcock, managing director of Crawford County Road Commission. “Therefore, it benefits employees, businesses, and citizens in the area. It is a prime example of this community’s efforts to promote growth through Industry. This project would not be feasible without the funding provided by MEDC’s Site Readiness Grant.”

The road commission will also receive $200,000 from Stoops Freightliner-Western Star and a $5 million Michigan Department of Transportation TEDF A grant.

The new roadway will give drivers access to I-75, without the need to go through downtown Grayling.

“Trucking is an essential component of our economy. At Stoops Freightliner-Western Star, we are excited about the Industrial Drive completion and our proposed new building located in Grayling. Our new dealership location will bring 40 new jobs in the future,” said David Shane, Vice President of Operations for Stoops Freightliner-Western Star. “Also, this economic development will facilitate more commercial and heavy truck traffic, which is vital to this region. Our customers, who are essential to our local and nationwide economies, will be able to safely access our dealership to purchase trucks, truck parts and have their trucks serviced.”
