Canton Township police said they began investigating the Valero Gas Station near Grand Boulevard and Linwood Street in late 2024. Police suspected the business was being used to fence goods stolen from multiple businesses across Metro Detroit.

According to authorities, gas station management and employees had knowingly purchased “large quantities of stolen energy drinks” from people and sold them at the gas station.

Police said they executed search warrants on Jan. 22, 2025, at the Detroit gas station and a home in Dearborn, which resulted in three arrests and thousands of dollars in stolen goods being recovered.

Aziz Awadh, 40, and Hamood Fatteh, 22, were both charged Friday, Jan. 24, with conducting a criminal enterprise, organized retail crime and two counts of using a computer to commit a crime. Safwan Awadh, 38, was charged with organized retail crime.

Bond was set at $10,000 and their next court date was scheduled for Friday, Jan. 31.
