Video: Fugitive arrested after 100 mph chase on I-96 ends in crash

BRIGHTON, Mich. – A 35-year-old man wanted by the United States Marshals Service was arrested after a high-speed chase on I-96.

According to authorities, it started Monday, Jan. 27, when Livingston County Sheriff’s deputies spotted a Kia that was stolen out of Lansing. When they attempted a traffic stop, the driver attempted to flee, exceeding speeds of 100 mph and passing vehicles on the shoulder.

Video of the pursuit shows law enforcement’s view of the freeway significantly impacted by the dirt kicked up when the Kia drove on the shoulder.

The sheriff’s office said the driver tried to exit at Kensington Road in Brighton, but was driving too fast and rolled the vehicle.

Dashcam footage of the chase can be watched in the video player above.

The driver and the passenger had to be extricated from the wrecked Kia.

The driver, only identified as a 35-year-old from Williamston wanted out of multiple jurisdictions, was taken into custody.
