Port Huron police arrest woman in homicide case, investigating possible link to vehicle fire

Woman was released pending further investigation

PORT HURON, Mich. – The Port Huron Major Crimes Unit, assisted by the Downriver SWAT and Michigan State Police 2nd District Furtive Apprehension Team, has arrested a 36-year-old Metro Detroit woman in connection with a homicide.

The woman was arrested and taken to the St. Clair County Jail on Tuesday (Jan. 28) at 9 p.m., where she was released pending further investigation.

Prior to the arrest, officials said they responded to a vehicle fire in the 3000 block of Vanness Street at 12:13 a.m.

At 12:31 a.m., officers said they were dispatched to the 2500 block of Vanness Street, where they discovered Vincent Buckles, 35, dead from multiple gunshot wounds.

The Port Huron Major Crimes Unit and Detective Bureau investigated both incidents.

Preliminary findings suggest arson in the vehicle fire. Investigators also worked to determine whether the cases were connected, with assistance from the Michigan State Police Crime Lab.
