DETROIT – After living there for a little over a month, one man says he can’t help but feel violated after his dog was stolen along with several electronics.
This happened at a home on Auburn Street near the Dearborn, Detroit border.
Donnell Banks said he didn’t even care about the belongings stolen from his house, Including some very high-end electronics; all he wanted was for his little buddy to return home.
“I had my dog for 5 1/2 years, and I really care about my dog,” said Banks.
It is sometimes cliche to have a dog as a bed friend, but for Banks, Perky is his entire world.
“I had the dog since the dog was born. And then she was the only survivor of the litter. So that’s why the dog is really special to me,” Banks said.
When he returned home one day to find burglars had broken in, he realized thieves had stolen two big-screen TVs. Sadly, they had also stolen his entire world.
“I didn’t hear my dog scratching the door, and I automatically knew something was wrong. The only thing I’m really concerned about and want is my dog,” Banks said.
One of his favorite things to do was give his little guy a bath, and now he’s worried that Perky is out there unbathed, unsheltered, unfed, and probably scared.
“I know my dog is miserable. I’m really just trying to get my dog back,” Banks said.
Police have been investigating, but so far, there have been no new leads in Perky’s whereabouts.
So Banks is taking matters into his own hands, offering a $1,000 reward.
“Hopefully, whoever has the dog sees it and returns the dog to DPD or meet up and link. And I’ll give the reward to them or get the dog back. It’s just really just shocking and heartbreaking cause I really cared for my animal. I’m really cared for my dog,” Banks said.
Remember, you can earn that $1,000 reward, no questions asked. If you know of Perky’s whereabouts, call 313-589-3895.
