STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. – A suspect has been charged in connection to killing a man at an extended stay hotel in Macomb County over the weekend, police said.

Luke James Svacha, 51, of Center Line, was arraigned on Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2025, on the charges of homicide, felony firearm, carrying a concealed weapon and restricting and obstructing the police. He was denied bond.

The shooting happened at 5:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2025, at the Extended Stay America hotel at 33400 Van Dyke Avenue in Sterling Heights.
