USPS suspends acceptance of packages from China, Hong Kong following Trump’s executive order

Order ends rule allowing shipped packages worth less than $800 to US without paying duties

The United States Postal Service says it has temporarily stopped accepting packages from China and Hong Kong.

The move comes just after President Donald Trump’s executive order ended those parcels' duty-free handling.

According to reports, Trump’s order ended the rule allowing people to ship packages worth less than $800 to the United States without paying duties.

The change affects many companies, especially those like Shein and Temu that ship low-cost goods from China.

According to the New York Times, the United States imports about three million packages like this daily, mostly from China.

Experts have warned the lack of inspection has allowed fentanyl and pre-chemicals of the drug to enter the country.

The USPS says the new rule doesn’t affect letters or flat packages.
