DETROIT – An apartment building in Detroit was evacuated due to a possible gas leak, with hazmat teams dispatched to the scene.

Initially, one person was transported to a Metro Detroit hospital with non-life-threatening issues from the apartment located in the 23501 block of W. 8 Mile Road on Friday (Feb. 7).

According to an update from the fire department, two adults were eventually taken to the hospital as a precaution.

The building, which was only partially occupied, was evacuated to ensure safety.

It was confirmed that a gas leak was present. DTE Energy responded to the incident, and the hazmat team has since given the all-clear, allowing residents to return safely.
