Southfield police search for suspect after person shot in head, found dead in parking lot

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – Police in Southfield are searching for a suspect after a person was found dead in a parking lot after being shot in the head.

At 10:15 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 9, 2025, first responders went to the 25000 block of Shiawassee Road after someone reported finding a person unresponsive in a parking lot.

When they arrived, first responders found the victim in the parking lot with what appeared to be a single gunshot wound to the head. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have described the suspect as an adult man, around 6′0′' tall, who has a beard, and was wearing a black winter hat. Police believe the suspect and victim knew each other and do not believe there is any additional threat to the public.
