When will heavy snowfall start Wednesday, end Thursday in Metro Detroit?

Heavy snow should dwindle around 4 a.m. Thursday

4Warn Weather – A 4Warn Weather Alert is in place through Thursday morning due to expected widespread and heavy snow.

All of Southeast Michigan is under a winter storm warning or a winter advisory from 1 p.m. Wednesday through 7 a.m. Thursday. Snow showers move in Wednesday afternoon but are expected to pick up in intensity Wednesday evening.

Heavy snow continues to fall overnight but should taper down before daybreak. The heavy snow should dwindle down around 4 a.m.

We’re expecting around 2 to 8 inches of snow, with higher totals closer to the thumb. Most of the heart of Metro Detroit is looking at 3 to 6 inches.

Areas closer to Toledo could also see a wintry mix around midnight, and perhaps a glaze of ice accumulation.
