Police chase in Warren ends with 2 separate crashes

WARREN Mich. – A police officer and a 12-year-old girl were hospitalized after a police chase ended with two separate crashes in Warren.

It happened just before noon, Thursday, Feb. 13. According to authorities, it started when a Warren police officer attempted a traffic stop on a Cadillac sedan near I-696 and Dequindre Road for a license plate violation.

Police said the driver of the Cadillac sped off southbound on Mound Road, where it ignored a red light at Eight Mile Road and crashed into two other vehicles.

The pursuing officer then reportedly crashed as it was approaching the intersection of Mound and Eight Mile roads. The officer had to be extricated from the patrol vehicle and was rushed to a hospital with serious injuries. He is expected to survive.

The driver of the Cadillac, a 33-year-old man, was arrested at the scene. Police said his 12-year-old daughter was inside the Cadillac at the time of the crash. She was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

The occupants of the other two vehicles struck were not injured.
