On Oct. 8, 2024, around 12 a.m., Williams and his brother, who was the driver, were arrested by Detroit police on Conner Street and Jefferson Avenue for carrying an unlicensed gun.
The gun was located in the backseat of the vehicle under Williams' seat, according to officials.
Police said two guns were discovered in the vehicle, with one registered to Williams, 23, and one to his brother. He obtained a concealed pistol license after the initial arrest.
The Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office declined to charge the talented speedster for the incident.
However, Williams was suspended by the league twice for a combined six games in his first three seasons with the Lions for violating the league’s gambling rules while in the team’s facility and the NFL’s performance-enhancing drug policy.
Although he has dealt with some off-the-field issues, his on-field production has been unmatched, and he is coming off a career year.
During the 2024 season, Williams caught 58 passes for 1,001 yards and seven touchdowns in 15 games.
He has accumulated 10 touchdowns in 33 career games throughout his young career since the Lions selected him with the No. 12 pick in the 2022 NFL draft.
