Detroit man arrested for allegedly recording himself sexually assaulting missing teen girl

A Detroit man on probation was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a missing teen girl for months.

According to court documents, Devan Eric Cook is accused of bringing a missing teen girl to his home in Detroit, where he sexually assaulted her since she was 14 years old. She was 15 when she was found.

Man shoots himself after kidnapping teen he befriended online, Detroit police say

A 13-year-old has been reunited with their family after police say they were kidnapped by a man and taken to a home in Detroit on Monday.

According to Detroit police, a man in his 40s befriended the teen from Garden City on social media. This led to the two meeting in person.

Parents raise alarm as Macomb County public schools struggle with multi-million dollar budget crisis

Questions were raised within L’Anse Creuse Public Schools after the school discovered a multi-million dollar budget shortfall. The Macomb County school is facing a deficit of $8 million.

Superintendent Keith Howell says it’s because of a few things, including the end of COVID-19 funding.

On Monday, Feb. 24, the district met to discuss the budget and its progress, but not before hearing from some worried parents.

Carjacked man stabs suspect with fork during fight in vehicle in Macomb County

A 60-year-old man is facing felony charges after reportedly stealing a bag and carjacking a vehicle in St. Clair Shores.

It happened at about 10:30 a.m., Feb. 21, outside a Kroger store. Authorities said Eddie Leon Gaines attempted to grab a 64-year-old woman’s purse when a Good Samaritan intervened by hitting him with her shopping bag. Gaines then reportedly entered the driver’s seat of a running vehicle that had a 51-year-old man in the passenger seat and drove off.

Weather: Few rain showers & some sunshine expected for Metro Detroit on Tuesday

After a nice start to the work week with some clouds cover, some sunshine and temperatures heading well above average into the upper 40s, we’re going to see much of the same for Tuesday with a few rain showers to start the day.

Our next chance of rain moves into the forecast Tuesday with a weak disturbance rolling into the region. These rain showers will last into the first part of Tuesday morning. We will then see the clouds break for some sunshine heading into the afternoon. We will also keep a chance of rain into the forecast looking ahead into Wednesday as well. High temperatures remain remaining above average, holding into the upper 40s on Tuesday and lower 40s on Wednesday.
