62-year-old man charged with alleged hate crime in Sterling Heights hit-and-run crash

Mohammed Meah, 62, was charged with an alleged hate crime in connection with a hit-and-run crash in Sterling Heights.

The incident occurred on Friday, Jan. 5, 2024, when Meah allegedly intentionally hit a random pedestrian with his vehicle at the intersection of 15 Mile Road and Dodge Park.

Court documents said Meah claimed the victim was racist.

Meah entered a nolo contendere plea on Thursday (Feb. 27), meaning he accepted his conviction as though he had entered a guilty plea but did not admit guilt.

He was charged with ethnic intimidation and four counts of assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder or by strangulation.
