MACOMB COUNTY, Mich. – A Lotto 47 ticket purchased as a birthday gift won a $1.1 million jackpot.
The players matched the six Lotto 47 numbers drawn in the Dec. 14, 2024, drawing to win the $1.1 million jackpot. The numbers were 09-15-16-30-40-44.
“I bought the ticket for my father as a birthday gift,” said the lotto club’s representative. “I don’t buy tickets often, but when I do I always buy them at Liquor Land because I remember my father always bought tickets there when I was a kid.”
The ticket was purchased at Liquor Land on East 9 Mile Road in Eastpointe.
“When my dad checked the ticket after the drawing, he had to look at it more than a few times to believe what he was seeing,” the representative said.
The club members recently visited Michigan Lottery headquarters to claim their prize. They chose to receive it as a one-time lump sum of about $763,000 rather than annuity payments for the full amount.
“What a memorable birthday gift for a son to give to his father,” said Lottery Commissioner Suzanna Shkreli. “Topping this gift will be nearly impossible, but sharing such a wonderful memory – and a jackpot win – with your family is priceless.”
They plan to pay bills and invest the rest in a business.
How to play Lotto 47
Each Lotto 47 play costs $1.
Players choose six numbers from one to 47 for a chance to win a jackpot starting at $1 million. The prize grows until someone wins.
For an additional $1 per play, Double Play may be added to a Lotto 47 ticket, giving players a second chance to win up to $1.5 million in the nightly Double Play drawing. For an additional $1 per game, players may add EZMatch to their ticket for a chance to win up to $500 instantly.
Lotto 47 drawings take place on Wednesday and Saturday at 7:29 p.m. Tickets may be purchased at a retailer or online at MichiganLottery.com until 7:08 p.m. on the day of the drawing.
