Trump selects Hamtramck mayor to be US ambassador to Kuwait

HAMTRAMCK, Mich. – President Donald Trump said on Friday he had selected Amer Ghalib to be the U.S. ambassador to Kuwait.

Ghalib is currently serving as the mayor of Hamtramck. He was voted into office in 2021.

“I am pleased to announce that Amer Ghalib will be the next United States Ambassador to Kuwait,” Trump said on social media.

Ghalib endorsed Trump’s presidential campaign in September.
