DETROIT – A scenario-based training exercise will be held at Wayne State University on Thursday.
Wayne State University police said the training will be held from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on March 13 in the Academic Administration Building at 5700 Cass Avenue. That building will be closed to the public and university business on that day.

During the exercise, people may see Wayne State police cars with lights and sirens in the Cass and Palmer area. Palmer Street will also be closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic.
Police said if anyone sees armed officers or people appearing injured being evacuated from the building, note that this is part of the drill and not a real emergency.
“WSUPD regularly conducts training exercises to ensure the department is prepared to respond swiftly and effectively to all situations,” said Wayne State University in a statement sent out Monday. “We appreciate your understanding and cooperation during this important training.”
