GARDEN CITY, Mich. – Fire officials are investigating after a house explosion happened in Garden City on Thursday evening.
At about 6:50 p.m. on March 13, 2025, the fire department was notified of a house explosion in the 6500 block of Silvio Street, according to Garden City Fire Chief Randy Keen.
Crews discovered that the house was unoccupied at the time of the explosion.
No one was injured.
The cause of the explosion is under investigation, according to Keen.
You can watch chopper video of the damage following the explosion in the video below:
It is not known what part of the house the explosion happened in, but the chief said that bricks were displaced from three sides of the house and some of the windows were displaced.
Crews also put out fires on the first floor of the home and in the basement.
“You can see the devastation to the house itself, you can see the sides of it don’t have any brick on it anymore, some of the windows were displaced, so obviously the explosion was pretty violent. Fortunately, no injuries to any of the homes or any of the people around it.”
The investigation is ongoing. There is no active threat to the area.
